Draft voters list to be published today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The draft photo-affixed voters' list for the district will be published on Wednesday.

The list will be available for reference at the taluk/village offices. Applications for deleting /adding names to the list or for making other changes will be accepted at these offices till December 14, an official press note issued here on Tuesday said.

In addition to this voting booths, polling stations and village offices will function as special centres for accepting such applications on November 18, 19, 25 and 26. Any person who figures in the present voters' list can apply to get the names of the dead or of those with change of address removed from the list. Individuals should verify whether their photo and names tally in the draft list. For any corrections regarding the photo or the name individuals can approach the respective tehsildar along with the voter identity card issued to them.

The names of those who have changed their places of residence will be deleted from the voters' list. Such people should apply to get their named added to the list as per the new address. In such applications the old address and the voter identity card number should be indicated. A person's name need not figure in the list just because he/she has a voter identity card. Therefore individuals should ensure that their names figure in the list, the press note said. While form six should be used to apply for fresh addition to the voters' list and for transferring a person's name from one constituency to the other, form seven should be used to apply for deleting a name, form eight to apply for correcting mistakes in the voters' list and form eight (A) to apply for change of address within the same constituency. These forms are available free of cost at the taluk/village offices.
