Bangalore: As many as 450 street children celebrated Childrens' Day with gusto at a function organised by BOSCO here on Tuesday. Watching mimicry, dance and song programmes and having delicacies were part of their fun schedule. On an ordinary day, they would have had to vie with many others to go on air and speak to their favourite RJs. On Tuesday, a group of children had their fifteen minutes of fame. RJs from BIG 92.7 FM entertained the tiny guests by playing on-air games and giving away goodie bags.
Screening of film
ING Vysya announced its support to the Akshara Foundation's programme, "Catalysing the Universalisation of libraries in Communities". It also screened an animated film "Hanuman". As party of their Children's Day celebrations, which was organised on November 7, as many as 2,000 children below five years from 25 Eurokids Pre-Schools in the city gave away clothes, toys, books and sweets to their less fortunate counterparts housed in non-governmental organisations in the city. Garuda Mall organised a face painting contest, plays, magic show, and games on their premises. The celebrations held by the Government at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium led to traffic disruptions in the Central Business district. BMTC buses that ferried children to the stadium were parked haphazardly on Kasturba Road, adding to the chaos.
