BANGALORE: Employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's (HAL) Aircraft division went on a snap strike on Tuesday following an accident that led to the death of a Fire Inspector. Radhakrishna (55) who was riding a scooter was killed after he was hit by a mini bus on the Aircraft division premises. Radhakrishna, who was in-charge Senior Fire Inspector at HAL, died on the spot. Irate employees resorted to a snap strike. They refused to hand over the body to the police. The employees wanted the HAL management to pay compensation immediately and also assurance of a job for the children of the deceased. They also demanded action against the bus driver Santosh Kumar, who was arrested by the HAL Police. The HAL management has placed Santosh Kumar under suspension. The management announced payment of Rs. 1.5 lakh in addition to the compensation. It slso promised to install speedbreakers and initiate measures to ensure safety on the premises.
Dies in accident
Raghu, 26, an autorickshaw driver was killed when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road near Benaganahalli bridge in K.R. Puram Traffic Police Station limits on Monday night. He was killed on the spot. The K.R. Puram Police are yet to trace the vehicle.
