dated November 16, 1956: UN force for Egypt

The UN Secretary-General, Mr. Dag Hammarskjoeld, who left New York on November 14 on a visit to the Middle East, has ordered the first contingents of the international emergency force to start moving into Egypt. He told reporters before departure, "I am going to the Middle East to do what I can to set up and get going the UN emergency force in Egypt. This is the first truly international force and let us hope it will succeed. Let us hope we will succeed in establishing peace and order."
