TECH-SAVVY: Products displayed at an exhibition on technology adoption that opened in Kochi on Wednesday.
KOCHI: Retail Tech Show 2006, a two-day exhibition on technology adoption in the retail sector got under way here on Wednesday at Hotel Avenue Centre in Panampally Nagar. Organisers of the show claim that this is South India's first and largest event on technology adoption in the retail sector. The objective of the seminar is to educate retailers about new technology tools available and to interface with them on various information technology products, said a spokesman for the Hyderabad-based VINmedia that is organising the show here. Twelve companies which are bringing out specialised products for the retail sector are exhibiting their products ranging from point of sales machines to electronic weighing machines. Barcode solutions, electronic cash registers, retail software and security equipment too are on show. The exhibition is on between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m. and is open free to business visitors. On Wednesday, there was also a panel discussion on the right approach to technology adoption among small and medium retailers.
