Special Correspondent
KOLKATA:
Xenitis, maker of the Amar brand of personal computers, plans to launch motorbikes by January 2007 through its Chinese joint venture partner, Guangzhaou Motors Company. The joint venture, Global Automobiles, was floated in November 2005.
Santanu Ghosh, Chairman of the Xenitis group, told The Hindu that the joint venture with the Chinese firm was only a technology tie-up.
Rs. 280 cr. project
The project cost of Rs. 280 crore would be financed through internal accruals and borrowings.
According to a Xenitis release, Global Automobiles will bring the motorbikes in a semi-knocked down condition. It will go in for production once its manufacturing facility is ready.
