Rally to generate awareness of diabetes

PUDUCHERRY: Students of Mother Theresa Institute of Health Sciences, Tiruvalluvar Government Girls HSS, St Joseph of Cluny Girls HSS and members of Puducherry unit of the Indian Red Cross Society took out a rally here on Tuesday through main thoroughfares to generate awareness of diabetes among the people on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day on Tuesday.

Health Minister E. Valsaraj flagged off the rally at Pillaithottam-Kamaraj Salai junction. Professor of Medicine in JIPMER A.K. Das, the medical superintendent of Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital G. Govindaraj, officials of various institutions were among those who participated. The Department of Health and Family Welfare distributed pamphlets, held seminars and oratorical competitions in the peripheral towns and semi urban pockets, an official release said.
