Rupee extends losses against $


MUMBAI: The rupee on Wednesday extended the losses against the U.S. currency for the fourth straight day and fell sharply to close at a three-week low of 45.34/35 a dollar.

In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened flat at 45.17/19, but soon nosedived to a low of 45.3600. It later closed at 45.34/35, steeply lower than the previous close of 45.17/18. The rupee had finished at 45.3650/3750 on October 23.

Sustained foreign capital inflows in to the domestic stock market failed to boost rupee sentiment. — PTI
