NALGONDA: It was a memorable experience for Saritha, a fifth class student in a Government school, and her friends on Children's Day. They were invited onto the dais to release a book in the presence of a galaxy of VIPs.

The meeting hall of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in the town remained witness to a rare feat. The children released a book "Nadiche Mabbulu (Clouds that walk)," a compilation of stories and poems penned again by the students of some Government schools. The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and DIET jointly brought out the book for students of third, fourth and fifth classes. There is pictorial representation on every page to steal the attention of the children and the speakers appreciated the cover designed by the gifted artiste Nayak."Student are under tremendous pressure due to corporatisation of education.

Teachers should encourage them to read literature and take part in extracurricular activities," Collector Kaveti Vijayanand, said. Film director B. Narasinga Rao said it was not easy to bring out the hidden talent and creative power of children.

"Creating children's literature is the need of the hour and I appreciate the team that brought out the book," he said.
