TIRUPATI: The innovative exhibits on display at the three-day District Science Fair, that began at the Govindarajaswamy High School campus here on Wednesday, proved to be effective tools in explaining the science behind an action.

Each of the exhibits, made impressively by the students in a cost-effective manner, had a theme to reveal. Under the sub-heads such as food and nutrition, agriculture, environment, energy, education, mathematical modelling, transport and communication, green cover etc., all the participants explained one novel idea or the other.

    Good response

In all, 600 students are taking part in the science fair from across the district, of whom 400 are from urban schools and 200 from rural areas. Interestingly, the students from the Government schools were on par with their peers from corporate schools, while those hailing from rural backdrop conveyed the message as effectively as those from the towns.

To ensure quality of exhibits, the Education Department screened entries at the mandal level and permitted only the top three entries that led to an evidently drastic drop in the number of participants.

The exhibition was inaugurated by MLA M. Venkataramana, while District Educational Officer K. Hymavathi took part. The exhibition will close on Friday.
