Mano College, Puliyangudi, and ICFAI National College jointly organised a one-day seminar on `Personality development' for final-year students recently. The Principal, Gnanapragasam, in his presidential address, urged the students to develop personality traits such as self-confidence, creativity, positive thinking, dominance, honesty, courage, tolerance and better communication skills to be a successful man in any field. Inaugurating the seminar, the Principal, ICFAI National College, Ayyanathan, stressed the need for having self-assessment by identifying everyone's strengths and weaknesses. The present job market trend and techniques to be followed to get employment in a highly competitive scenario were explained by Bency of ICFAI National College.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at National Engineering College organised a workshop on `Research motivation' for young researchers, on its premises at Kovilpatti recently. Delivering the inaugural address, D.S. Guru, Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Mysore, emphasised the importance of research in the modern era and explained the methods to approach a funding organisation to get stipends for research activities of the youth. He said that the trend of education had undergone a drastic transformation from the `Gurukul' days of yesteryears, by which now the `Guru' and `Shishyas' share knowledge on common platforms. The youth were asked to develop instinct for research while in the college itself, which should then flourish once they graduated. K. S. K. Chockalingam, Principal of the college, spoke.
