`No specific direction to arrest Shivakumar'

Bangalore: Confusion prevailed near the residence of the former Minister and Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar at Sadashivanagar here on Wednesday following reports that he and some of his family members would be arrested by a special squad of the Forest Department.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy maintained that he had not issued any specific direction to the Forest Department or to the police to arrest Mr. Shivakumar. The Chief Minister, however, said that there was no one was above law, and offenders "whoever they may be would be arrested."

On his part, Mr. Shivakumar maintained that he would not obtain anticipatory bail and would prefer to be arrested.
