BANGALORE: The Department of Kannada and Culture has organised a three-day cultural festival "Suvarna Karnataka Kalarava-Makkala Kala Vaibhava" exclusively for children from November 18 to 20 at Ravindra Kalakshetra here. Commissioner, Kannada and Culture, K.R. Niranjan told presspersons here on Wednesday that more than 400 child artistes from across the State would participate in the event. Folk dance, folk singing, street plays, light music, classical music (both Carnatic and Hindustani), instrumental music, Yakshagana and seminars would mark the occasion, he said. Over 100 children from the city would participate in a drawing camp at 11.30 a.m. on the inaugural day, he said.
Sculpture camp
In association with the Kendra Lalitha Kala Academy, the Department of Kannada and Culture has organised a 10-day sculpture camp from November 15 to 24 at Kalagrama, adjacent to the Jnana Bharathi campus of Bangalore University, he said. Noted sculptors, including M. Ramamurthy of Bangalore, V.K. Rajan of Kerala, Jayanthi Nayak of Ahmedabad, Biman B. Das of Delhi, Sandeep Chakravarthy of Kolkata and Shyamasundar of Hyderabad would participate in it, Mr. Niranjan said.
