BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has said that the Government will convene a meeting of representatives of Kannada film industry on or before November 18 to find a solution to the problems facing it. He was speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday after receiving a memorandum from a delegation of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) led by its president Tallam Nanjunda Setty. Stating that he was keen on solving the industry's problems, Mr. Kumaraswamy said there were reports that Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting M.H. Ambareesh would take initiative in this regard after the Chamundeshwari Assembly byelection. The memorandum urged the Government to extend subsidy to all films, barring remakes. Other demands of the KFCC include simplification of certain rules specified in the Cinematographic Act and earmarking funds in the Karnataka State Finance Corporation as the Union Government had accorded industry status to cinema.
