Four murdered in Khanapur taluk

Staff Correspondent

BELGAUM: A man is alleged to have killed three of his three maternal aunts and an uncle in Dukkarwadi, a remote village in Khanapur taluk, on Wednesday.

Additional Superintendent of Police S.K. Hegde told The Hindu that Shivanna Gurav, accompanied by Arjun Gurav and others, attacked Basavva Aralikatti, Gauravva Aralikatti, Eeravva Arlikatti and Gundappa Aralikatti with sickles while they were working in their fields around 11:30 a.m. and hacked them to death.

A police team rushed to the scene of the crime and conducted panchnama. It arrested the main accused, Shivanna Gurav.

All the four victims were aged between 35 and 40 years, Mr. Hegde said. A dispute over land is said to be motive for the crime. The Khanapur police have registered a case.
