HUBLI: Last year, he came to Hubli to sensitise schoolchildren on the importance of imbibing civic sense and to launch a programme called Children's Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA).

This year, the actor Ramesh, brand ambassador for the CMCA of Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, was pleased to see the change the city had undergone after his last visit.

After going round the city on Tuesday in a tractor with district in-charge and Minister Jagadish Shettar, the film star was delighted to see the change and said so during his speech at the Civic Utsav organised at Indira Glass House here.

Over 3,000 schoolchildren participated in the utsav. He told them to begin the cleanliness drive from home and extend it to their surroundings.

Presiding over the function, Mr. Shettar highlighted the need to educate adults on civic sense rather than children. Prior to the inauguration of the utsav, the schoolchildren took out a procession from Indira Glass House and returned to the starting point via Basava Vana and Kittur Channamma Circle.

Several schoolchildren who had done well under the CMCA programme and three organisations that had joined hands with the HDMC in spreading awareness were honoured on the occasion. As part of the utsav and Children's Day, several cultural programmes were presented by the schoolchildren.
