Sathish hits century

CHENNAI: Skipper R. Sathish scored a fluent 153 as Combined Districts reached 289 for eight against City before rain halted the second day's play in the three-day match for the C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer Shield at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium on Tuesday.

Sathish and E. Suresh put on 106 for the fourth wicket to take Districts to a position of relative safety, after City had reduced it to 68 for three on Tuesday. Suresh's dismissal for 43 (130b, 2x4) triggered a minor collapse, but Sathish combined with wicketkeeper K. Varun and put on 107 runs for the eighth wicket.

Unlike on Tuesday, when the ball was stopping short on the batsmen in the wet weather, Sathish was able to slice the field repeatedly and reached his century with a six over mid-off.

For City, left arm medium pacer R. Naresh finished with four for 44.

The scores:

Combined Districts 289 for eight in 114.2 overs (R. Sathish 153, E. Suresh 43, R. Naresh four for 44) v City at MAC.
