`Package likely during PM visit'

Jalandhar: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh may announce the much-awaited financial relief package for farmers during his forthcoming visit to the State, PWD and Education Minister Pratap Singh Bajwa said on Wednesday.

``The State Government has sent a proposal for waiving the `interest part' on agriculture loan of Rs 2,500 crore taken from nationalised and cooperative banks. It is expected that the Prime Minister on his visit to the State in this month will announce the same as financial relief package,'' Mr. Bajwa said at a function here.
