KCR case: court seeks information from EC

Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India on Wednesday was asked by the A.P. High Court to inform it by Monday about the action initiated on a complaint lodged against TRS leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who had allegedly made some remarks about voters accepting bribe.

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Madhukar Reddy and another complainant of Karimnagar. The petitioners complained to the court that without any valid reason, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had resigned from the Lok Sabha and caused the present election and he must be asked to reimburse the expenses. Newspaper clippings were filed before the court claiming that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had asked the voters to accept money from Congress party and then vote for the TRS.

The petitioner said that such open declarations amounted to violation of the Model Code of Conduct and instigation of voters to indulge in unfair practices.
