COLOMBO: A soldier of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and four LTTE members were killed in continuing incidents of sporadic fighting between the two sides. A statement by the SLA said troops in Ethawetunewea, Weliya killed on Tuesday four militants trying to infiltrate villages in the area. Separately one soldier was killed in an LTTE attack in Batticaloa. It said LTTE cadres, operating in uncleared areas off Mankerny and Kadjuwatta in Batticaloa since the early hours of Tuesday, continued small arms and mortar fire attacks on Army camps and their sentry points throughout the day. LTTE cadres in Kommathurai, Batticaloa, threw a hand grenade at a picket point of the Security Forces and injured one. Troops on information given by civilians conducted a raid in a courtyard in Kalevadi, in Jaffna and unearthed weapons.
