Atmosphere at talks very good, says Kasuri

Dates for meeting between Foreign Ministers being worked out, he says

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri on Wednesday said the atmospherics of the Foreign Secretaries talks in New Delhi were "positive" and that he looked forward to meeting External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Speaking to The News, Mr. Kasuri said he had not had the time to go through the New Delhi joint statement, but from what he had heard "the atmosphere at the talks was very good, very positive."

The talks were the result of the "sagacity" demonstrated by leaders of both countries in Havana in September.

Mr. Kasuri said the dates for a meeting between the Foreign Ministers were being worked out.

"I am looking forward to meet my Indian counterpart," he said.

"Talks constructive"

Foreign Secretary Riaz Muhammad Khan, on arrival at the Lahore airport from New Delhi, said his discussions with his Indian counterpart Shiv Shankar Menon were "businesslike," "frank" and "constructive."
