TIRUCHI: The city police have cracked a case of dacoity, which was reported in Karumandapam here on September 23, with the special team arresting six persons. The team recovered 13 sovereigns of gold jewellery, allegedly looted by a six-member gang from a house after tying the inmate, Chellam (65), in her residence in broad daylight. While the gang leader, Alagu, and Krishnamurthy were arrested on Sunday, the other four were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday. The gang entered into the house of Chellam while she was alone and tied her with rope and towels. After snatching the gold chains, they dumped her inside the bathroom. Later they stole a gold bracelet and Rs. 1,500 from an almirah. On hearing the alarm raised by Chellam, the neighbours went inside the house and rescued her.
