HYDERABAD: The Government is planning to ensure signal-free traffic movement on the 50 km inner ring road by taking up road widening, junction improvements, grade separators and cross drainage works all along the route after removing identified bottlenecks. Special consultants are to be appointed to prepare detailed project reports, which would also take into consideration the development of bus corridors in the future. Improving the inner ring road is to help in smooth movement of traffic from the international airport coming up at Shamshabad. Junction improvements are to be taken up at Habsiguda crossroad, Owaisi Hospital, Aramgad and Chandrayangutta soon with the road to be widened to 200 ft after acquiring private and defence properties alongside.
Land available
The Roads & Buildings Department will immediately take up construction of road from Uppal junction to Owaisi Hospital, from Chandrayanagutta to Aramgad junction and from Aramgad junction to Rethibowli junction considering land was already available. The railway authorities will be approached for improving and widening road from St. Ann's School to Habsiguda. These decisions were taken following an inspection by officials led by MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju and officials from Uppal, L.B.Nagar municipalities to identify traffic bottlenecks on Wednesday. The team went round Somajiguda, SP Road, Mettuguda, Tarnaka, Uppal, LB Nagar, Chandrayanagutta, Attapur road, Rethibowli, Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank and Nagarjuna Circle. Religious structures and private properties near Mettuguda where road width is 60 to 65 feet will be widened after shifting them. Work on widening the road from Road No.1 Banjara Hills-Masab Tank-Nagarjuna circle to 100 ft will commence from Monday next.
