HYDERABAD: Police rescued a woman kidnapped by a gang of four persons at Rajendranagar on Wednesday night. Three of the abductors, who tried to run away after police rounded up the car they were travelling in at Langerhouz, were caught by locals after a chase. A hunt is on for the fourth person who managed to escape. The abduction and rescue drama unfolded when the woman, Sunitha, and her friend Shobha, both aged about 30 years and residents of Kishanbagh, went to a toddy compound in Upparpalli of Rajendranagar around 9 p.m. The accused persons Mir Hasan, Sachin Singh, Syed Mohsin and Mohammed, who came in a car, dragged Sunitha into their vehicle and sped towards Hyderguda. Shobha shouted for help and informed a police party that happened to pass by. As messages flashed across the city and Cyberabad police control rooms, policemen and patrol vehicles fanned onto the roads looking out for the car. The Rajendranagar police tried to intercept the car by blocking the road near Aramghar crossroads. But the kidnappers rammed into the police vehicles and headed towards Langerhouz. They kidnappers tried to run over Langerhouz Inspector P. Jaipal, who was checking vehicles at Langerhouz crossroads, but abandoned their car a few metres away on seeing approaching Cyberabad police vehicles. They took to their heels but were caught after a chase by locals.
