Free colour television scheme on Pongal day

Puducherry: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy told newsmen on the sidelines the National Press Day celebration here on Thursday that the Government would launch the distribution of free colour television sets to the poor during Pongal festival in January. He said that the Government would also launch monthly assistance (ranging between Rs. 500 to Rs.1000) scheme to the educated unemployed youth in the Union Territory.

The 10-kilo free rice meant for the current month would be distributed from November 20. The Administration incurrred a monthly expenditure of Rs 3 crore. It benefitted all families irrespective of their economic status.
