LONDON: In what the police described as a "vicious and unprovoked racist attack,'' a Sikh teenager was punched and kicked by a gang of four white boys who then hacked off his hair with a knife they were carrying. The 15-year-old suffered extensive bruises and was reported to be "traumatised'' though police said he did not need hospitalisation. The incident, which took place near a gurdwara in Edinburgh late on Wednesday, sent shock waves through the Sikh community. "The community is appalled by what happened to this innocent boy. We hope this would be a one-off incident and we can return to living our calm and peaceful lives,'' Rab Singh, vice-president of the gurdwara told The Times. The boy reportedly told his family he feared for his life.
