  • Vedant-BMC Sangeet Mahotsav from November 27
  • Inaugural features Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Sangeeta Gosain

Bhubaneswar: The stage is set for the launch of Vedant-BMC Sangeet Mahotsav, a three-day national classical music festival, at Rabindra Mandap here on November 27.

It is being hosted jointly by well-known cultural forum Bhubaneswar Music Circle (BMC) and industrialist Anil Agarwal's Vedant Group.

    Tie-up for good

"We have signed an MoU with the group recently to launch the festival and we have plans to make it an annual affair. In view of the severe resource crunch, it augurs well to have a collaborator for promotion of Indian classical music," says BMC vice-president Mahendra Mishra.

The inaugural will feature flute wizard Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and noted Odissi singer Sangeeta Gosain of Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswar.

New Delhi-based renowned Hindustani vocalist Meeta Pandit of Gwalior `gharana' and Orissa's versatile violinist Ramesh Chandra Das are slated to perform the second day. The event will conclude with the performances of Carnatic vocalist Padma Vibhusan N. Seshagopalan and Bhubaneswar-based Hindustani vocalist Debendra Narayan Satpathy.

The four-decade-old BMC is also hosting its own annual national music festival and the Rajarani National Music Festival in the capital.
