VIJAYAWADA: Maruti Udyog Director (marketing and sales) Shuji Oishi inaugurated the India's first all-in-one Maruti dealership showroom, Varun Motors, opposite Dr.N.T.R.University of Health Sciences here on Thursday. Krishna District Collector Navin Mittal inaugurated the service centre. The three-storeyed showroom with a floor space of one-lakh square feet has a selection yard with a capacity to hold 250 vehicles. Varun Motors Managing Director V.Prabhu Kishore said that his father Vallurupalli Kesavarao Chowdary, founder of Padmja Commerical Corporation, was a big inspiration to him. Mr Kishore said he was born and brought up in Vijayawada. His company was fortunate to be given Maruti dealership in Visakhapatnam in 1996. Since then there was no looking back. Varun Motors was given Maruti dealership for Hyderabad in 1998 and after that it was given dealerships for Nizamabad and Srikakulam districts. When he learnt that Maruti was looking for a dealer in Vijayawada, he approached the company and the dealership was given to him only after due process. The company was doing a business of Rs 700 crores a year and had set a target of achieving Rs 1,000 crores, he said. His son V.Varun is the CEO of the Vijayawada dealership, which caters to the needs of customers in Krishna and Khammam districts. Mr.Varun underwent training with Suzuki in Europe . Mr. Oishi and Mr. Mittal gave away keys to owners who purchased cars.
