Campaign: pass Forest Bill with JPC amendments

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Activists of the Campaign for Survival and Dignity will sit in dharna here demanding immediate passage of the Scheduled Tribes (Recognition of Forest Rights) Bill with amendments recommended by the Joint Parliamentary Committee.

"The United Progressive Alliance Government has failed entirely to fulfil its promises to the forest-dwelling people. It has defrauded us with the Bill, which, in its present form, will encourage corruption, enable abuse of power and further deny us our rights," the Campaign said in a statement here on Thursday.
