HYDERABAD: The newly-elected State Bharatiya Janata Party president Bandaru Dattatreya has asserted that Telangana State could be achieved only through the efforts of national parties and said that the issue would be his party's main plank in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha by-election. According to a party press release, Mr. Dattatreya reviewed the strategy for ensuring the victory of BJP candidate Ch. Vidyasagar Rao in the bypoll with senior leaders soon after taking over the reins as State president.
Confusion
He also held a review meeting with the party's nominees for the Graduates' constituencies for the Legislative Council. Criticising Congress for creating confusion on Telangana, he said that Telangana could not be achieved by Telangana Rashtra Samithi on its own. The party would ask the people to ensure the victory of Mr. Vidyasagar Rao as it would be a step forward for the formation of a separate State.
Modi to campaign?
He said that BJP national president Rajnath Singh, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and Sushma Swaraj would be invited to campaign for the party candidate in Karimnagar constituency.
