MANGALORE: A three-day programme to observe the decennial year of `Nammavaru', an association of old Mysore Brahmins living in Mangalore, will begin here from November 17. Convenor of the association's decennial committee Shikaripura Krishnamurthy told presspersons here on Thursday that Vishveshatheertha Swamiji of the Pejawar Math, Udupi would deliver the inaugural address, while noted theatre artiste Master Hirannayya would launch the event. As part of the celebrations, various cultural programmes would be held in the evenings. Sheshagiridas and his troupe from Bangalore would present a concert of devotional music on the inaugural day. The next day, Hirannaya Mitra Mandali from Bangalore would stage a humourous play, `Mastarayana'. There would also be a `gamaka vachana' by Mathhur Keshavamurthy and Devanur Panduranga Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of the Ramachandrapura Math, Hosnagar would attend the valedictory function, while vice-president of the Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha H.S. Laxminaryana Bhat would deliver the valedictory address, Mr. Krishnamurthy said. Master Hirannayya, M.R. Vasudeva, director, Mangalore airport, P.N. Krishnamurthy, paediatrician, Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Jayarama Bhat, chief general manager, Karnataka Bank, and K.S. Suresh Babu, former additional director general of police, would be felicitated at the event.
