Training programme

Thiruvananthapuram: Fifty representatives from 28 countries are coming for training in parliamentary practice at the Kerala Assembly. The training programme is being jointly organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training of the Lok Sabha and the Kerala Legislature Secretariat in the Assembly Complex here from November 20 to 24. Deputy Speaker Jose Baby will inaugurate the programme on Monday morning. It is for the first time that the State is being chosen to organise such a training programme for representatives of foreign countries. — Staff Reporter

Savings scheme

Thiruvananthapuram: Canara Bank has launched a special savings scheme - SB Can Champ - for children up to the age of 12 years. The scheme was launched on Tuesday at Kendriya Vidyalaya school, Pattom, by playback singer G. Venugopal. Bank general manager P. Mohanan presided. A complimentary piggy/doggy savings box, a personal diary with facility to store pictures, free collection of cheques/DDs are some of the attractions of this scheme, said a press note issued here. — Staff Reporter
