BANGALORE: The print media must reinvent itself and virtually become "a slave of technology" to meet the challenges of dispensing news in the age of television and Internet journalism, Subhir Roy of Business Standard said here on Thursday. He was speaking at a discussion on "Is today's newspaper becoming a commodity?" organised by the Karnataka Media Academy on National Press Day. Another panelist, journalist Deepak Thimmaiah said newspapers should give more space to views than news now that television channels "broke news" as it happened. Former Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar said as in other fields, there was a decline in value system in media. Media Academy chairman V.N. Subba Rao, Commissioner of Department of information K.V.R. Tagore, Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Deccan Herald and Prajavani K.N. Tilak Kumar, journalist and director of Siddaganga Institute of Media Studies Suchetana Swaroop participated.
