News Analysis
The heading of a report was "Philatelist enters Guinness Book of World Records" (Thiruvananthapuram city, November 16, 2006, page 2). The details in the text were about a person possessing the largest collection of coins from most countries. A reader points out that a philatelist collects stamps and not coins. A collector of coins is a numismatist. A sentence in a Chennai report, "`Water from dam posing flood threat'" (November 17, 2006) was: "In a statement here, she [Jayalalithaa] said the release of 3000 cubic feet water from the [Mullaiperiyar] dam posed a grave threat of flood to five southern districts as the water level in the Vaigai had already reached its full capacity." A reader points out that it should have been 3000 cusecs. In the report "DPS (Mathura Road) post two wins" ("Sport", November 17, 2006), the text gave the scoreline of the Delhi Public School match against Mallya Aditi International School as 100-84, while the results column gave it as 81-67. The scoreline in the results column is right. It is the policy of The Hindu to correct significant errors as soon as possible. Please specify the edition (place of publication), date and page.
