Held on chain-snatching charge

Kakinada: The police have busted two gangs - one related to chain-snatching and the other involved stealing pesticide from shops - and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.40 lakhs and fertilisers and pesticide worth Rs.1.75 lakhs, respectively, from them. Addressing a press conference here on Friday along with Additional SP A.V. Ranga Nath, East Godavari SP B. Srinivasulu said that G. Vijayakumar, a diploma holder in automobile engineering, was the kingpin of the four-member chain-snatching gang.

The other accused persons were Y. Trinatha Babu, B. Suresh Babu and S. Veera Raghavulu.

The second gang, comprising five members, was busted at Kajuluru village.

They were K. Ramanjaneyulu, B. Lovaraju, Y. Veerababu, Chollangi Veerraju and K. Nageswera Rao.
