Dacoit gang busted

Booty worth Rs.7 lakhs recovered from accused persons


  • Gold jewellery weighing 600 grams, 7 kg of silver and cell phone recovered
  • Another ten members of the same gang at large

    Rajahmundry : The district police have nabbed a ten-member inter-district dacoit gang here on Friday.

    The gang members were produced during a press conference in police guesthouse along with booty that was recovered from them worth Rs.7 lakhs.

    Speaking to reporters, the Superintendent of Police B. Srinivasulu said the notorious gang belongs to Telagapamula sect of Gokavaram mandal, which is a centre for dacoit gangs from past few decades. Kukkala Posaiah, under which the gang operate in Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts. According to SP, the police party under Korukonda CI K.N. Varaprasad, Tuni CI NVS Murthy, Jaggampeta CI K.V. Satyannarayana and Rajahmundry CCS CI KMV Prasad raided the house of Posaiah. They recovered gold jewellery weighing 600 grams, 7 kg of silver and cell phone.

    Confesses

    He said after interrogation, the ten-member gang confessed to robberies in Talluru in Tuni mandal, Jagapatinagram in Kirlampudi, Pangidi and Devarapalli in Kovvuru mandal in West Godavari, Namavaram, Yelamanchili town, Makavaripalem in Visakhapatnam district and Yanam.

    The SP said there are another ten members of the same gang at large and they are trying to arrest them at the earliest.

    Mr. Srinivasulu said the Crime CI KMV Prasad and three-town CCS SI Ch. Trinath Swami have arrested a minor girl stole gold jewellery worth Rs.1 lakh.
