Abu Baker hits century
A century by Abu Baker (104) helped State Bank of India beat Budding Stars by an innings and 42 runs in the A division (two-day) league cricket tournament here. The scores: A division (two-day) league: SBI 362 (Abu Baker 104, Vincent 70, Santosh 60, Raghav Tara five for 120) bt Budding Stars 148 (Vijay 57) and 172 (Ranganath four for 22). A division one-day knockout: Dayanand CC 174 lost to SCRSA 176 for four (R.A. Viswanath 123 n.o.).
Kiran to lead
C. Kiran Prakash will lead APTRANSCO team in the 33rd all-India Electricity Sports Control Board volleyball tournament to be held in Nahan (HP) from November 23 to 26. The team: C. Kiran Prakash (Capt.), Venkatesh, Yedukonda Reddy, Srinivas Reddy, M. Jayachandra, Nageswara Rao, Penchalaiah, S.M.A. Khadri, Md. Munawar, Srinivas, Muralikrishna, Venkateswara Rao and Mallikarjuna Rao.
Corporate cricket
The CII Andhra Pradesh Cup cricket tournament for corporate groups will be held from November 18 to December 17 during weekends, according to G. Vivekanand, chairman of CII (Andhra Pradesh). Twenty-eight teams will feature in the event to be held on a league-cum-knockout basis at different venues in matches of 20 overs each.
