Staff Reporter

Authorities of Anantapur jail express their inability to keep the accused

  • No facilities to keep accused persons, say Anantapur jail officials
  • Cite instance of throwing of food by followers of Suri

ANANTAPUR: The District and Sessions Court here on Friday ruled that the 11 accused persons in the Paritala Ravindra murder remain in Hyderabad prisons. The accused persons had petitioned the court to be shifted to the district jail near here.

Though the court received communication from the authorities of Chanchalguda and Cherlapally prisons that they had no objection in moving out the accused persons in the case to Anantapur jail, the authorities of the district jail expressed their inability to keep them.

The authorities of the district jail at Reddypalli said the jail had no facilities to keep the accused of an important case like the present one. Besides, they also cited an instance of the followers of a few of the accused persons throwing food packets into the jail from outside.

    Explanation sought

District Judge K. Gaddenna ordered the Jail Superintendent to give a detailed explanation to the court on December 1.

He also extended the remand of 13 accused persons in the case and adjourned the case to December 1.

    J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, accused in the murder of Paritala Ravindra, urged the court to allow him to defend his case himself.
