Sangareddy: State Bank of India (SBI) has chosen Medak district for the pilot project it has planned with Little World, an NGO, to provide basic banking services to each and every villager in the district. The rural banking initiative will be launched during the third phase of land distribution on November 19 at Togarpalli village of Kondapur mandal. Medak is the first district in the country to be chosen for the project. The `any time service' would be provided to the accountholder through a single person representing the bank in that particular village. Equipped with a computer, the person would also generate the necessary receipts. Each customer could operate their account from the village itself without having to visit the mandal or district headquarter for their banking needs limited up to Rs. 50,000. According to Anurag Gupta of Little World, the State Government promised its support to spread the novel initiative to 16 districts in the State.
