LUDHIANA: Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) on Friday asked the Election Commission to announce the dates for the Punjab Assembly polls and impose the Model Code of Conduct. In a representation to the Chief Election Commissioner, SAD (B) legal wing president Harish Rai Chand said it became necessary to prevent ``blatant misuse of State machinery by the Congress''. The elections to the 117-member Assembly are due to in February 2007. Party chief Parkash Singh Badal said in Chandigarh the `Sangat Darshan' programme would be resumed if the SAD-BJP combine formed Government in the State. - PTI
