MYSORE: Exuding confidence of a Congress victory in the byelection, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday cautioned party workers against money and muscle power along with the misuse of official machinery by the Janata Dal (Secular) - Bharatiya Janata Party combine. Using the function to felicitate Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ambareesh here to launch the party's campaign, Mr. Kharge said, "Congress neither has money nor muscle power. But to counter muscle and money power, party workers should be dedicated in their work." Stating that the entry of Siddaramaiah had strengthened the Congress, he said former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda had compromised on his ideology and entered into an understanding with the BJP only for power. Besides Mr. Kharge, many Congress leaders, including D.K. Shivakumar, and former Minister C.M. Ibrahim, also expressed fears of the use of money and muscle power by the ruling coalition in the byelection. Appealing to voters to support him, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, "Goddess Chamundeshwari will punish Mr. Deve Gowda and his family for their wrongdoings. Mr. Deve Gowda, during his political career, has caused harm to leaders of all castes." Accepting the felicitation, Mr. Ambareesh said there was no use of indulging in vengeance and politics of hate. Urging his fans to ensure the success of Mr. Siddaramaiah, he said, "It is also my responsibility to ensure his victory. I will come for election campaigning with Mr. Siddaramaiah and seek votes on his behalf."
