Extra charge for Haryana Governor

NEW DELHI: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has appointed Haryana Governor A.R. Kidwai as Administrator of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in addition to his own duties during the absence of Delhi Lieutenant-Governor B.L. Joshi on leave.

New book series released

NEW DELHI: A new series of books on Afro-Asian countries that seek to introduce the Indian reader to different aspects of various countries of the region has been launched by the National Book Trust.

According to an NBT release, the series was launched with the release of the first book, "Japan", at India International Centre here on Thursday. Authored by Prof. Yamaguchi Hiroichi, who taught at the Institute of Developing Economies in Tokyo, the book has sections on Japanese history, culture, tradition and modernity.

DDA plans Lok Shivir

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority has decided to organise a Lok Shivir here on Saturday for the benefit and convenience of allottees under the Rohini Residential Scheme-1981 for conversion of leasehold properties to freehold. The camp will be held in the DDA office at Deepali Chowk in Rohini. All information about documents to be submitted and assistance in filling the forms will be provided at the camp apart from actual disposal of complete applications.

Emergency medicine

NEW DELHI: Over 300 specialists from across the world are participating in the three-day International Emergency Medicine and Disaster Preparedness Conference that was inaugurated by Fortis Healthcare Limited chairman Harpal Singh here on Friday.

Supported by over 20 corporate organisations engaged in healthcare, the conference is aimed at finding ways to improve administration of emergency medicine in India and working with the Government to create a national disaster management plan and human resource pool comprising medicos, paramedics, administrators and volunteers.

Presentation planned

NEW DELHI: Students of the Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF) will organise a presentation on "Special Effect Character" at their institute here this coming Tuesday.

The presentation will emphasise on creating characters through make-up and special effects. The objective of the presentation is to enhance students' knowledge about make-up equipment and products. Special effect make-up in Bollywood is one of the modules in the curriculum of Fashion Media Make-Up course.
