Man dies in road accident

VISAKHAPTNAM : D. Venkat Rao (18), an employee of CMR Shopping Mall, was killed in an accident on Friday.

The police said Venkat Rao was going on a Yamaha motorcycle with his friend A. Srinivas Reddy as pillion rider from Naval Coast Battery side towards the Collector's Office. While overtaking a lorry, he hit an APSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction near Apex Hospital.

Both of them were admitted to King George Hospital where Venkat Rao died within 30 minutes while Srinivas Reddy is said to be out of danger.

Held with gold

The City Task Force struck gold on Friday. Sleuths of the force arrested P. Balaraju (30) and Suresh (25) and seized 3 kg of gold from them worth over Rs.30 lakhs, N. Vijayanand, Sub-Inspector of CTF, said. The case was handed over to the Two Town Police for further investigations.

Lottery tickets

The task force also arrested S. Raju, V. Ramu and A.S. Kameswara Rao for selling banned lottery tickets in the Akkayyapalem area. Over 150 tickets of Sikkim and Bhutan lottery were seized from them.
