Apex court defers decision on Shaukat Hussain's petition

NEW DELHI:
The Supreme Court has deferred its decision on a curative petition filed by Shaukat Hussain, who was sentenced for 10 years in the Parliament attack case, seeking reduction of the verdict.
A Bench of Chief Justice Y.K. Sabharwal, Justices K.G. Balakrishnan, B.N. Agrawal and P.P. Naolekar, after two rounds of discussion in chambers, adjourned the decision on the petition.
The matter will come up for discussion later.
Five Pakistani militants Mohammed, Haider, Hamza, Rana and Raja attacked Parliament on December 13, 2001 and security personnel killed them.
The encounter also claimed the lives of nine security personnel and caused injuries to16.
