NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu pavilion attracted large crowds on Friday as the southern State celebrated Tamil Nadu Day with pomp and style at the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan here. Tamil Nadu Minister for Information Parithi Ellamvazhuthi inaugurated the celebrations by lighting the traditional lamp and presided over a brief function that included a Bharatanatyam dance presentation by disciples of Guru Mutharasi. On display at the pavilion are a wide array of goods ranging from food products and eucalyptus oil to saris and Tanjore paintings. Showcasing food products like milk, ghee and butter is Aavin, the popular brand of the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation. The good old Co-optex Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society is displaying colourful saris from across the State. Crafted tastefully to complement and enhance the beauty and elegance of every woman, each sari is unique in design and woven out of good quality material. An employee at the stall, K. Murali, said: "We are selling the much sought after Kancheepuram silk saris and Arni saris. Both these varieties of saris made to meet the demands of today's customers. At IITF, we have attractive offers to lure visitors to our pavilion." V. Pannerselvam, artist and proprietor of Chakrapani Crafts, is displaying Tanjore paintings depicting Balaji, Ganesha, Hanuman and Krishna.
