Painting competition

NEW DELHI: THE HINDU-Young World on-the-spot Painting Competition 2006 Finals for Juniors (Class IV to VII) and Seniors (Class VIII to X) will be held on Sunday, November 19, at Raisina Bengali School on Mandir Marg here.

All those selected in the preliminary round have been sent individual call letters to come for the Finals. The competition starts at 9 a.m. sharp. The participants should be at the venue at least half an hour before the start of the competition and bring with them the call letter. Prizes will be distributed to the winners the same afternoon. Apart from the first, second and third prizes there will be consolation prizes too. All winners will get a hamper from Lottte BooProo who are presenting the competition.

Traders asked to submit undertakings

NEW DELHI: The Confederation of All-India Traders (CAIT) has urged 25,000-odd traders in the Capital, who had earlier filed affidavits, to submit their undertakings with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to prevent their premises being sealed.

At its core committee meeting on Friday, CAIT asked traders to follow the Supreme Court directives to avoid any inconvenience later. It also thanked the apex court and the MCD for not targeting traders who are now covered under the 2,183 newly notified roads in the commercial and mixed land use categories.

Two die in accidents

New Delhi: Two persons, including a nurse, died in separate road accidents in the Capital on Friday.

Sarin Flora, 27, a nurse with the Escorts Hospital was on her way to her duty when her two-wheeler overturned at Sarai Kale Khan flyover in South Delhi area, killing her on the spot, police said.

In another incident, one Trilok died after his motorcycle was hit by a tractor in the Mehrauli area in South Delhi.

Trilok's friend Vijay was injured in the accident. A case has been registered and police has launched a manhunt to arrest the erring driver of tractor.
