YSR to launch the programme in Anantapur

  • 11,705 acres to be given away
  • The land would be given only in the name of women

ANANTAPUR: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will launch the third phase of land distribution scheme taken up by the State Government from Nallamada in Anantapur district on Sunday, commemorating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Officials said 11,705 acres would be distributed to the landless poor during the third phase in the district. Title deeds, pattadar passbooks, land map and assistance for land development would be given to the beneficiaries. The land would be given only in the name of women.

About 8,965 acres land was distributed under the scheme in the first phase and another 6,763 acres in the second phase in the district. In the third phase, there will be 4,256 beneficiaries.

    Shift in venue

Though it was earlier decided to hold the programme at Chowtukuntapalli of Kurumala panchayat in Nallamada mandal, elections to 28 gram panchayats, of which Kurumala is one, forced the officials to change the venue due to the code of conduct in the village. Elections to these gram panchayats were not held earlier this year as their term was not completed.

    Itinerary

The Chief Minister will arrive in at Nallamada by helicopter at 12.30 pm on Sunday and will interact with the beneficiaries of scheme in the first and second phase. He will address a public meeting and will distribute land pattas to some beneficiariesfrom 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. He will meet the party leaders of the district and officials from 2.30 p.m. to 2.55 p.m. and will depart at 3 p.m.
