PATHANAMTHITTA: The sacred grove of Sabarimala, situated in the dense forests of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, received heavy rainfall on Saturday. However, the downpour little seemed to affect the flow of pilgrims to the holy hillock on Saturday. Pilgrims, including women and children were found trekking the Neelimala and Appachimedu hills, through out the day. Meanwhile, water level in the Pampa went up by Saturday afternoon. The Duty Magistrate in Pampa issued an alert urging pilgrims and shopkeepers to watch out for flash flood. The volunteers of the Sabarimala Sanitation Society cleared garbage that got accumulated in different parts of the Sannidhanam and Pampa, during their intensive cleaning operation in the past 24 hours, according to Duty Magistrate N. Mahesan.
