BANGALORE: Minister for Small Industries Shivanand Naik on Saturday said that the Government was committed to providing infrastructure for development of the small-scale industries sector. He told presspersons here that there were 3.75 lakh small units in the State and the Government was giving subsidy to 3,765 units. The new industrial policy focused on small-scale units and the emphasis was on creating one-lakh jobs each year, preferably in second tier cities and districts in north Karnataka. Mr. Naik said on-job training and tie-ups with private and public sector units to train the youth in various sectors had been initiated. Mr. Naik said new zones would be established to promote small-scale industries. The old system of auctioning industrial sheds would be replaced by a new method. A committee would be set up to allot sheds.
