Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam on Saturday stood at 138.20 feet (full level 136 feet) with an inflow of 3,487 cusecs. There was no discharge. The level in the Vaigai dam stood at 68.67 feet (full level 71 feet) with an inflow of 1,109 cusecs and a discharge of 1,841 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 9,442 mcft.

Melur recorded a rainfall of 24 mm, Sittampatti 22, followed by Pulipatti and Thaniyamangalam 21, Idayapatti 14, Kallandiri and Marudhanadhi 13 each, Viraganur and Manjalar dam 12, Mettupatti 10, Sothuparai dam 7, Andipatti 6, Madurai and Sathayar dam 5 each, Peranai and Shanmuganadhi 4, Veerapandi and Vaigai dam 3 each.

Octogenarian robbed

A gang barged into a house at Pamban Swamy Nagar in Tirupparankundram here on Saturday and snatched a 2.5-sovereign chain from a 80-year-old woman after assaulting her. The suspects gained entry into the house when the victim was alone. When she offered resistance, they had beaten her causing injury. — Staff Reporter
